Final Clarifiers

There are
two 40-foot square final clarifiers at the plant. These clarifiers accept
flow from the aeration tanks and settle out the microorganisms that were used to
break down the organics during the aeration process. The final clarifiers
and aeration tanks are systems that are always changing and must be balanced
very carefully so that the necessary amount of microorganisms and oxygen are
available for proper treatment. Once the flow has passed through the final
clarifiers, it is then transported for disinfection to the chlorine contact
tanks. The accumulated solids that settle in the tanks are collected and
removed or pumped back into the aeration tanks, depending on the amount of
microorganisms needed for efficient treatment. |
