Chlorine Contact Tanks

Chlorination
remains one of the most popular methods of wastewater disinfection. Effluent
flow from the final clarifiers is conveyed to the two chlorine contact tanks,
where the flow is subjected to a predetermined dose of chlorine solution. Chlorine inactivates pathogens and oxidizes many organic molecules to carbon
dioxide. Once the flow has passed through the chlorine contact tanks, it
is conveyed through the plant outfall and into Brush Creek. The chlorine
contact tanks are the final process in wastewater treatment at the plant.
